Homemade Peas

I was so excited to start making preston some homemade baby food. Brandi ( one of my friends from show low ) told me about a blog that was full of homemade baby food recipes. Its an awesome site...www.simplybabyfoodrecipes.net... i would recommend it to anyone! Anyways i went to the store and bought my mini food processor and some fresh peas still in the pod and some green beans. I started out simple with just a regular pea recipe since it was his first real food meal....i steamed the peas ( i learned that boiling veges takes alot of the nutrients out and is left in the water) then i put the peas in the food precessor and added the little water on the bottom of the pot to them and poured it in ice cube trays and froze it. After it was frozen i put them in baggies and labled and dated them and now when im ready i take one out (perfect size for one feeding) and warm it up, ive been mixing it with some rice cereal also. Well a couple of days ago was his first time and he did not know what to think. Haha it was so cute though...hed make his faces like " eecckk mom what are you feeding me " but id smile and say yuummm and hed start smiling and swallow it. He actually ate it all and didnt spit it up. Im so proud!
These are a couple of pics of his "faces"...hes such a funny guy

Visting Teaching-October

I decided that i was going to be really good at making visiting teaching handouts. I love scrapbooking and so it just makes visiting teaching more fun when i can bring something!! If youd like to use my idea, feel free. Ill let you know how i do it and you can personalize it anyway youd like! This is the front - I just picked out my favorite quote from the visiting teaching message which was from Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Presidency of the Seventy:

"Our rising generation is worthy of our best efforts to support and strengthen them in their journey to adulthood...In every action we take, in every place we go, with every Latter-day Saint young person we meet, we need to have an increased awareness of the need for strengthening, nurturing, and being an influence for good in their lives"

I also added a little tab with our names and numbers

I picked out a cute scrapbooking paper and added a flower and voila! haha your done

I love the back...since its halloween this month i wanted to add a little poem, i found it on the idea door site. It says...

Since this is the time for goblins and bats,
Halloween parties and ghosts and cats,
Weird costumes and strange masks too,
these are the things i wish for you,
May the only ghost that comes to stay,
Be the holy ghost to guide your way,
May the only spirts you chance to meet,
Be the spirts of love and warm friends sweet.
These are the Halloween wishes for you,
And may Gob bless you in all you do.
Happy Halloween

Then i put that on some paper, bordered it with black ribbon and added some stickers, and glued the two sides together and Viola! Your done!

Conference Weekend

This weekend was really nice...i love conference not only for the wonderful messages but to be in the comfort of our own home and snuggling up and watching the prophet. Its wonderful. I think one of my favorite talks this time was in elder bednars talk on love and how consistancy is so important. It really hit me hard on how much more i need to be consistant in family home evenings and family scripture study not only for myself but for my children and husband too. Me and Spencer never really have a "family home evening" cause its just the two of us but i really think that it was not only made for when you have kids...its a time to help one another and learn more about eachother and when our lives are as busy as ours its nice to have time dedicated to spend time with eachother. So for now on we are having monday nights as family nights and i will be better at planning something to do. I also think its so important that preston grows up seeing and knowing monday nights are family nights and he will see the importance of it early on. Well last night i took preston on a walk and it was just perfect outside i loved it! I did put a little jacket on preston just to make sure he didnt get cold but he loves being outside so it was very enjoyable.
Preston on our walk...

Tangled up...hes only wearing a diaper cause he had a blow out during conference

Phoenix Zoo

Today was a very fun day...we went to the zoo with Corinne and the two cute little kiddos she watches, Sara and Ryan. It was a little hot today but it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. Preston loves being outside since we NEVER go out in this valley heat so i think he really enjoyed it. It was great excercise for me too haha i was sweating, walking the whole time and either pushing the stroller or carrying him and pushing it so it was good for me for sure. Preston did have an explosion...luckily i brought an extra outfit :) Preston in the sling
